I mentioned that the government greatly improved transportation in Comuna 13, to help these people become more connected to the rest of the town. Our guide suggested that it has made a tremendous difference. We rode all the major transportation additions, and one more.

Our guide said that Comuna 13 had the longest escalator system in the world. It was not one single escalator but a long series of them. There were also stairs right next to the escalators.

The cable car system goes up and down over two hills. We rode it from our start until the end and then came back again. We got rewarded with some great views.

At one point, our local guide stopped us to give us some information. At that point, one of our fellow travelers, Peter, who was one of the most ambitious and delightful people that we've ever traveled with, along with his wife Betsy, tried another form of transportation. Pete was on his way down the slide before our local guide could tell him that it was not a means of transportation, but rather for the kids entertainment.
